it would seem that , customer did an oil change 2500 mls ago , and the oil has gone somewhere else …
rear output bearing has failed .
gearbox is so damaged it isn’t worth fixing .
Spada , well that was what it started as ! lovely exhaust wrap , right over the clamps i need to undo . Frame all newly re-finished , now to fix the oil leak from the RMS.
Nice , but i don’t think i would want to ride it in the dirt tho’ .
? anyone know who made the alternator ?
( plus i get to find all the things the builder bodged when building it )
You don’t have to go to an authorized dealer . Provided the service is done to the standard the factory set ( not hard ) using genuine parts ( to support the factory ) the service book is filled in , all the right oils are used , and all the items on the maintenance schedule are completed .
There is a piece of E.U. law that allows you to do this . It was designed to stop the monopoly of franchised dealers/importers .
This is an alarm removed in 15 mins from a V7 . Fitted by a Datatool Dealer . Bike came to a halt , because it was so badly fitted . i don’t know any alarm fitter who would have done it like this , it was embarrassingly bad . Have spoken to Datatool who want it back , so they can see what has been done to it .
there is a wire to sense that the ignition has been switched on ….the wire was poked into the ignition live …it is supposed to be soldered in .
Hopefully a new unit is on it’s way , and a letter will be sent to the fitting dealer .

another carc model , swinging arm bearing job , and could you put a clutch in while you have it ??? if it isn’t to much trouble ….
Nice red Centy , in for big service , followed by a big bill 😦 . front end is out to make it easier to do the belts . you can do it with the wheel in but you risk scratching things , so i take them off .
Cam followers are on the way out , BUT , they are still available , phew .
A distinct lack of grease from new…these are going to be a problem for every owner. The problem will be compounded by other problems that you are trying to fix at the same time .
This needs to be a job on it’s own, because you will end up doing the knuckle underneath at the same time .
Parts involved , knuckle, swinging arm bearings , seals for bearings , swinging arm spindle …and if you are really unlucky …a swinging arm .
Getting the rhs bearing out , means grinding/cutting the inner race as the output shaft from the gearbox gets in the way of a puller , and the shape of the hole and frame stop you getting a drift on it from behind .
In my profile picture you will see a Moto Guzzi California II in white, this bike came to me with a knocking noise which started from around 2 thousand revs and stopped around 3.5 thousand revs. After a road test. I found the issue by stripping the engine and checking the con rods. The rods were egg shaped worn. This caused the bike to make the noise.
With a engine out of the frame, second hand conrods, machined crankshaft to oversize shells. The bike was brought back onto the road.
This bike had been seven years parked up so it was good to see a happy customer able to use the bike as it should be. No nasty noises and back out, on the open road.
